FIRST WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY CELEBRATION IN ABIDJAN (COTE D'IVOIRE)!!!
On Friday April 2nd, ACA commemorated World Autism Day in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, at the Yopougon Center for children with mental disability (C.E.S.E.H).
The event, organized in partnership with Racines Heritage Foundation, was a moment to meet children and parents affected by this condition and share with them messages of hope and healing.
Mr. Yves Gueye Massa, President, ACA-Cote d’Ivoire was overwhelmed with emotion. Mr. Massa, whose six-years-old son has autism, has been working hard with Mrs. Kobenan, to make this happen. Mr. Massa was featured on the local news and was given air time to speak about autism. This is a major accomplishment in the awareness campaign. Since then, ACA has been receiving more e-mails and phone calls from families with autism as well as individuals interesting in knowing more about it. The program included a conference, donation of medicine, foods, and other needed supply.
C.E.S.E.H is a center that helps under privileged children with mental illnesses. The center lacks some basic resources and a lot is needed to take care of the children.
